Want to give a meaningful gift this Christmas but unsure what to give? At VILDNIS HQ we always keep a wish list full of fab ethical fashion, jewellery, bags and beauty products, and we are happy to share.
Below are some of my favourites for your inspiration.
1. The Bombom Clutch from Belo
The black Bombom clutch from Belo is made from decommissioned seatbelts and oozes Rock Chick with its shiny texture and silver metal chain. Ethical working conditions, fair wages, lining made from recycled plastic bottles, 500 gsm of seat belt fabric saved from landfill and donations to a charity for homeless; this clutch looks badass but is 100% goodness.
2. Wedge bangle from Little by Little Jewellery
Some things you just cannot walk past, and this is one of them! Add a pop of green to your favourite female’s outfit with this stunning art deco inspired bangle designed in the UK and ethically made in Peru. Little By Little use part recycled, part virgin silver sourced in Peru from certified companies meeting strict labour standards. All packaging is made from 100% recycled materials in the UK, and with each bangle sold, LBL donates three day’s supply of food to nurse an acutely malnourished child back to health via the charity Action Against Hunger. Irresistible, right?
3. Nia belt from Black & Brown London
The Nia belt is the perfect gift for someone fashion forward with a feminine yet powerful style who loves accentuating their waist. Handmade in the UK by mother and daughter team Nina and Simi from a soft responsibly sourced suede, it tells the story of proud craftmanship and care for the environment and is a gift that the receiver will want to wear time and time again. The large brass D-ring makes it fully adjustable, meaning you won’t have to worry about what size to get.
4. Ombre fringe scarf from Thread Tales
Ok, this one is, admittedly, on the expensive side, and you may need to team up with more people to gift someone with the ombre fringe scarf from Thread Tales. If you do, however, there is no doubt that your present will be well received and cherished for ever! Hand-loomed by artisans in Nepal and made from the finest certified cashmere sourced from a member of the Green Gold project to protect grasslands from being eroded due to large scale farming, it comes with a great story to tell. The brand prides itself on solely using eco-friendly processes, materials and dyes, yet the main reason we love this scarf: the super soft hand feel and the seriously cool dip dye effect emulating the granite layers of the mountains.
The Clean Rain Reserve Perfume had us at “captures the pulse of a rainforest the moment after a fresh rainfall when the air is so pure and fresh, you can actually smell life”. A gorgeous and truly fresh fragrance made from sustainably sourced ingredients and manufactured in a factory run by 100% solar energy, this is an enchanting present for a female friend or family member who loves light refreshing scents. Best bit? It comes in a luxurious-looking recyclable glass bottle with oak top made from sustainably forested wood and will look great on any bathroom shelf.
Price: £82 from Space NK
You can never go wrong with a lush body scrub. Especially not one called Foxy made from pure natural ingredients such as Himalayan crystal salts, sea buckthorn, Argan and kukui oils with anti-ageing properties! Danish brand Karmameju has made it its mission to make active natural beauty products that actually work without adding any parabens, phthalates and other nasties. Instead it uses an exquisite blend of natural oils (part organic) to lift the mood and turn the daily shower into a calm spa-like experience.
7. Organic cotton bedlinen from Nour Luxury
I have always loved well-made hotel-quality bedlinen in 100% cotton, yet as my knowledge on cotton production has increased, I have decided that my next set of bedlinen has to be made from organic cotton. Not only is it much better for the environment, wildlife and local communities living near cotton fields, it is also bound to have a positive impact on our health. The luxury organic bedding set in pewter from Nour Luxury is high on my personal wish list. Made from a premium buttery soft organic cotton fabric in a stunning light grey colour, it is packed with promises of style, serenity and, I am sure, seriously good sleeps.
Price: £150 for a king size set including duvet cover, fitted sheet and two pillow cases
8. Reusable coffee cup from FOSH
Sleek, stylish and scratch resistant, the FOSH reusable coffee cup is the perfect gift for the on-the-go-coffee lover. Designed to combat plastic waste from single-use coffee cups, it comes with a good mission and a promise to keep your drink hot to the very last drop. Being a Scandi minimalist at heart, I fell head over heels in love with the seal grey colour, but there are no less than 8 stunning colours to choose from with tempting names such as Caribbean and Ice Cream white.
9. Recycled merino jumper from VILDNIS
Yes, we can count - this one is a Christmas bonus: our favourite VILDNIS piece this winter - the Jinhae knit jumper made from the finest Italian 100% recycled merino yarn. A black timeless V-neck shape jumper that can be worn with both jeans and skirts is a must-have in every slow-fashion wardrobe all year round, and the Jinhae jumper is exactly that but with the signature VILDNIS edge: a wider flattering neckline and extra length in the sleeves for a cosy casual look. Ethically made with minimal impact on the planet, it is a feel-good look-good gift for sure.
Enjoy seeking out thoughtful gifts for those lucky ones in your life – and Happy Christmas!
