Sex up your open back outfits with stunning sustainable lingerie

With Christmas Party season just around the corner, now is the time to sex up your open back dresses and tops with some stunning lace lingerie.

Given that most lace lingerie on the market is made from unsustainable fibres such as virgin polyester, virgin polyamide (nylon) or conventional silk, it can be hard to marry a sustainable lifestyle with an alluring look.

There are, however, some pretty amazing sustainable lingerie brands out there as well - it's just a matter of finding them. Below are three of my favourite brands - and you might be surprised how stunningly sexy ethical and eco-friendly underwear can be!

Swedish/German Anekdot has been on my radar for a couple of years now. Using surplus stock fabric that the fashion industry is otherwise leaving behind, Anekdot is one of the champions of the ‘no wastage’ philosophy, as well as a great promoter of slow fashion through their limited quantities and made to order production.

I love a good front closure bra and this seems to be one of Anekdot’s specialities. Easy to get on and usually featuring a gorgeous back detail, front closure bra’s often work incredibly well with open-back items. Check out the Darling Cross Over Bra for a statement low back or my personal favourite, the Earth Soft Bra with multi changeable straps. Pair either of them with the Ivalo dress for a stylish party look.

Another brand that understands the importance of style combined with sustainability is Luva Huva, a small British brand, handmaking almost all of their products at their Brighton-based studio.

Using end-of-line fabrics and eco-friendly fibres such as Tencel, Hemp and Organic Cotton, Luva Huva is keen to make a positive difference to the planet through offering stylish and feminine lingerie.

For a minimalistic, yet feminine look, try the barely there Sweet Juliet Bra, featuring a single narrow strap across the back and beautiful Chantilly lace cups - perfect for a low back . Feeling brave? Wear the black version underneath a sassy semisheer piece such as the Saguaro camouflage shirt.

Danish Underprotection is much more than delicate lingerie – it’s also exquisite sustainable PJs, cute makeup bags etc.

I stumbled upon the brand about a year ago when looking for eco-friendly lace lingerie and have since become a big fan due to their combination of beautiful designs combined with lace, mesh and satins made from recycled fibres and lyocells.

My personal favourite is the stunning Victoria Bra with it's statement lace back, although perhaps better paired with sheer items than open back outfits.
For scoop backs, the bralettes in the collection, such as the Fabienne Bralette works a treat and is a perfect match for the Valdivian dress with keyhole back.

I hope the above list inspired you to show the planet some love this party season, taking to the dance floor dressed in sustainable fashion inside out! Perhaps you even found a few things for your Christmas wish-list? I sure did :-)
